A little history of Shooting Star Farm
Shooting Star Farm started in 1992 when Rink began farming a small plot of land in Fitchburg, Wisconsin. He dubbed his farm "Shooting Star Gardens" and sold vegetables to Madison restaurants and at the Dane County Farmers' Market. After a few years pursuing other interests, the farm reincarnated in 1996; this time with a partner (Jenny) and a new location. We purchased land and in 1997 and began building our farm and home from the ground up. We are located about 10 miles east of Mineral Point just south of Hwy 39. Our farm has been certified organic since 1996.
Over the years we have sold our vegetables to individuals, stores, and restaurants in Wisconsin as well as in the Chicago area. We've been fortunate to have our vegetables featured on the menus of many notable restaurants. In 2014 we decided to focus closer to home. We appreciate the restaurants that support our farm including: Merchant, Popolo Pizza, Heritage Tavern, Forequarter, Pizza Brutta, Milkweed, L’Etoile, Graze, Harvest, and Tequila Point.
While lettuces, salad greens, and tomatoes continue to be mainstays of our production, we grow everything from broccoli and beets to zucchini and leeks.
We are proud to be active members in our community and appreciate your support of Shooting Star Farm.
